The pairings the player puts together significantly affect the enemies, obstacles, and path choices. Apart from selecting the main character, the player must choose the side-kick that lends a hand during the play.
At the start of the game, there are only two characters available, Sonic and Tails, and as the game progresses, the number expands to three more characters. The player takes control of one of the characters each has different skills and abilities. The game takes place over seven zones, and each has three acts and a boss fight at the end. The game stars Sonic, Amy, Tails, Knuckles, and Cream as they try to stop Doctor Eggman from building an empire on each of the seven parts of the earth, divided by Eggman. This game is the sequel to Sonic Advance 2 and the third part of the Sonic Hedgehog series. It is a platform video game released in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance.
